“We had a blast baking challah with a new twist in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in support of Sharsheret. Sprinkles are not your typical topping for challah, so we had to experiment with a few techniques for best applying them. Perhaps rolling the sprinkles onto the dough as you braid the challah? Stuff them inside like funfetti? Eventually we landed on dusting the top of the loaf with sprinkles after the egg wash, which worked really well! We hope the splash of pink (as well as the added sugar boost) grabbed people’s attention and helped contribute to breast cancer awareness, and we are proud to support Sharsheret!”
We are so proud of Cornell, one of 14 chapters that partnered with the national nonprofit Sharsheret during October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month to hold Pink Challah Bakes.
Sara Gonzalez, Co-President of the Cornell chapter, describes her experience below.
