Loren is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Psychology. Volunteerism and philanthropy have always been an integral part of Loren’s life. In college, Loren was accepted into a leadership and service scholars program where Loren volunteered at an after school program for two years. This experience showed her the helpful and harmful ways to serve with others. After graduating, Loren served for two years as a Fellow with Repair the World: Philadelphia, learning about local and national food and education justice shortcomings, volunteering with a variety of organizations and facilitating service learning for others engaged in service. These experiences shaped her understanding of the causes of food insecurity and the obstacles to food sovereignty and inspired her to join Repair the World’s Board of Directors after her tenure with the fellowship. Loren is now the Chief Operating Officer at Challah for Hunger, where she supports the strategic vision for the organization and creates and implements policies to create a healthy work environment.
